My Journey

Forty-five is a ripe age to begin studying art, this decision has been one of the best choices I've made in my life.

In 2013 I touched clay for the first time, I knew straight away I was in-love.

This squishy wet stuff became second nature, sculpting instinctively,

Investigating, glazes, firing, types of clay different temperatures, techniques, special effects, wow so much to absorb.

The ceramic and sculptural tutors and technicians at South Bank Campus could see how my passion for clay was developing into something serious.

I felt the mentorship and respect from the teachers, carrying me through the last 3 years, feeling nurtured and supported. I'm now ready to explore more.

In 2016 I studied in the UK for one semester at Hertfordshire University, just outside of London.

This changed my life. I was introduced to glass, and another love affair began.

Cutting glass for the first time gave me a buzz, it’s hard to describe. My relationship with glass was not blowing glass, which is another world to explore.

I was introduced to cutting and fusing glass in a kiln. Excited with this new material I introduced glass and ceramics together, drawing from found wood, the three materials really worked together.
